Sheridan Smith has hit back at "bullshit" claims she was sacked from the musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat for being rude to the child actors.

On Sunday (October 13), a tabloid report alleged that the actress was axed from the West End show for telling a group of young cast members to 'go away' during an after-party.

However, Sheridan has since taken to her Instagram account to rubbish the article, stating she never went to a single party and that the kids were the main reason she stayed on the show.

She shared a picture of a message written in her notes, which read: "I try to rise above the tabloid bullshit but they've gone a step too far this time.

"The story today is completely untrue, the kids in the show are the only reason I stayed the whole run.

"I love every single one of them and the kids and their parents became family. Also, I never went to a single party as I am in recovery so this is all fabricated, vicious, cruel lies."

Last month, Sheridan revealed that she'd lost two stone in weight during her time on Joseph.

Sharing two comparison photos on Instagram, she wrote in the caption: "I’m not one for weight loss regimes as I think everyone should be comfortable in their own skin but comparing today's pic to day 1 of rehearsals on [Joseph] l have lost 2 stone!"
