Sheridan Smith has deleted all her social media accounts, just hours after posting that she had received some "shocking news".

The 39-year-old actor and TV presenter — who became a mother to son Billy in May last year — was last seen in public when she attended the Brit Awards red carpet last week.

Smith posted a picture of herself sitting in a window on Instagram on the evening of Monday 17 May, captioned: "Just had the most shocking news, don’t let people get you down.

The Gavin and Stacey star posed for pictures at the Brit Awards ceremony at London's O2 Arena last week.

The MailOnline has reported that she had been due to join Olly Murs and Adam Lambert to present the award for Best British Group to Little Mix but pulled out of appearing on stage and left the ceremony early.

It was her first public appearance since the national lockdown restrictions had been listed and her first big event since becoming a mother.

Smith and fiancé Jamie Horn, 31, welcomed their first child in May last year. He arrived early via caesarean-section.

Smith and Horn began dating in early 2018 after reportedly meeting through dating app Tinder. They are believed to have become engaged after just three months and live together in rural Kent.

During the first UK lockdown of the coronavirus pandemic Smith acted while heavily pregnant in ITV's Isolation Stories, filmed in her own home.

This year Smith has presented BBC dog grooming show Pooch Perfect and was a guest judge on Ru Paul's UK Drag Race.
