Sheryl Lee Ralph Says Her Daughter Coco and Son Etienne Are Her 'Best Legacy'
The 'Abbott Elementary' actress shares her two kids with ex-husband Eric Maurice
Sheryl Lee Ralph is crediting some of her best work to her kids.
In a new interview with Self, the Abbott Elementary actress, 67, opened up about how proud she is of her two kids, son Etienne and daughter Ivy Coco, whom she shares with ex-husband Eric Maurice.
"My children are part of my best legacy," she tells the outlet. "You know, in some places in Africa, they don't ask you how you are. They ask you, 'How are your children?'"
She continues, saying that her kids have helped her reinvent herself as an actress and a woman.
"They always say, 'Children keep you young.' If you're open to it, they absolutely do," the proud mom says, adding that her kids are big health and wellness people, inspiring her to take better care of herself.
"I'm floored by the way they're just living their lives to their fullness — and in a way that's not just for them, but they're helping others. So it says to me, 'Wow, they're paying attention.'"

In August, the star chatted with PEOPLE about her two kids, sharing that her daughter, who goes by Coco, has become her stylist.
"I'm so proud of them," Ralph said. "They're not looking at me to help them do this or that. They're not using nepotism. They're not coming to me saying, 'Can you call this? Can you do that?' They're doing it themselves, and I just respect them so much for that."
"Coco was always in the cutting room," the actress continued. "I don't know how it came to her, but she's good at this. She gets it. She has totally elevated my style. She has given me a look that makes other women say, 'Oh, my God, I need to try that,' or "Why don't I try being more colorful?'"
Last February, Ralph elaborated on how her daughter started styling her for red carpets. "I've been having the most fun working with my daughter, Ivy, who is my stylist," she shared at the time.
Saying that it initially was a one-time thing, the proud mom revealed that it quickly turned into a longer collaboration.
"It started as something we were going to do just a few times. But every time I had to hit the red carpet, she just kept getting better and better at it. So, now we work together," the mom of two added.
"I am very happy she is so good at making these connections and giving other people their shots on the red carpet," Ralph said of her daughter.
