The Shining star Shelley Duvall dead at 75 as tributes flood in

Tributes have flooded in for Shelley Duvall after the Hollywood star died aged 75.

The actor was renowned for her role as Wendy Torrance in The Shining. She was also renowned for her association with celebrated filmmaker Robert Altman and starred in classic also starred in films, Nashville and McCabe & Mrs Miller.

Shelley's partner, Dan Gilroy, has issued a tribute after he told The Hollywood Reporter she has died at their home in Texas due to complications from diabetes. He said: "My dear, sweet, wonderful life partner and friend left us.

"Too much suffering lately, now she’s free. Fly away, beautiful Shelley." People took to social media platform X and to share tributes to Shelley's legacy after the sad news.

Empire Magazine editor, Nick de Semlyen, said: "Farewell to an effervescent legend. Shelley Duvall will be remembered for The Shining, of course, but she lit up everything she was in, from a string of Altmans (including the bananas Popeye; she was a perfect Olive Oyl) to Roxanne. A true great. RIP."

Other fans took to social media to share their tribute as Lee commented: "It’s heartbreaking to hear of the passing of Shelley Duvall who was in The Shining she was a wonderful woman and great actress sending condolences to her family and friends RIP Shelley Duvall"
