What did you miss?
Shirley Ballas was tight-lipped as she was quizzed about Queen Camilla doing Strictly – teasing that while she knows plenty about the next series she “can’t share it”.
There have long been rumours about the royal taking part in the BBC ballroom show, and more recently it has been reported that there is talk of the programme being screened live from the ballroom at Buckingham Palace.
Ballas was on Good Morning Britain on Thursday (11 April) and was asked about it by presenters Kate Garraway and Ed Balls. However, she played her cards close to her chest.
What, how and why?
Garraway asked Ballas about all the talk, and the star – who is head judge on Strictly – teased: “Well let me tell you, I know quite a lot about what’s going on, I do, I just can’t share it! But anyway, gossip and rumour has it…”
She went on: “I would love it if Queen Camilla was part of it you know. I sent her one of my books, Murder On The Dancefloor, and she sent me the most beautiful handwritten letter back.
“But Camilla, I think they would look great doing a little bit of a Foxtrot. Maybe a bit of Cha Cha Cha.”
Balls, who was previously a contestant on Strictly himself, suggested Camilla and King Charles could tackle a Rumba. But Ballas replied: “Let’s not push it Ed. I think the Cha Cha Cha could be lively with their personalities, a little bit of Quickstep would be nice.”
Shirley Ballas has long wanted a Royal on Strictly
Ballas has previously said she would like to see a member of the Royal Family on Strictly, saying on This Morning last year that she was “never going to give up on the hope”.
Host Alison Hammond asked if she thought it would happen and she replied: “I hope so, I hope so.”
“Love Camilla, I know she loves the show,” she said. “She told me personally, she watches it.”
