Shocking footage shows moment 'gunshots' heard in Edinburgh as pensioner dies and man arrested

Shocking footage has emerged of the moment 'gunshots' were heard in an Edinburgh street, where it has emerged a 78-year-old woman has died.

CCTV overlooking a garden near Fernieside Crescent in the capital shows a police officer running past a dog who starts barking.

It all goes quiet for a moment before voices can be heard shouting several times for someone to get their "hands over your head".

Immediately after, what sounded like 'five gunfire shots' are heard and the dog starts barking again in response.

The scene is very quiet again before several rounds are heard for a second time around 10 seconds later.

It's understood the loud bangs were from a police tactical device, used to secure entry to a property.

Police confirmed that they descended on Fernieside Crescent after receiving reports of a disturbance within a house on the street at 8.25am on Tuesday, May 21.
