'Significant' amount of money stolen from Retford children's charity

Police have issued a CCTV appeal after a "significant" amount of money was stolen from a children's charity in a Nottinghamshire market town. Officers would like to speak to the man pictured as they believe he could have important information regarding the incident, which took place at Barnardo's Charity Shop in Retford.

Nottinghamshire Police said a man entered the store on Wednesday, May 1 and entered the restricted staffing area of the shop, before stealing a significant amount of money. He then fled the scene. A spokesperson for the force added: "Officers have carried out a number of lines of inquiry to catch the suspect, but no arrests have been made yet.

"We are now appealing for the public’s help to ensure the person responsible is brought to justice. We have released some images of a man that could help them further our investigation."

Anyone who knows the man is being asked to contact the police immediately. PC Carl Forman, who is investigating the incident, said: “This was a despicable crime taking charitable funds to help and support children and young people in need.

“We are determined to catch the person responsible and ensure justice is served. We have released images of a man that could help us with our inquiries. Do you know the man in the pictures? Are you the man in the pictures? Please get in touch with us as soon as possible.”
