Silent Witness has welcomed Strangers and The Gentlemen star Jason Wong to the cast ahead of its 24th series.

The long-running crime drama, which recently started filming new episodes after a series of coronavirus-related delays, centres on a group of forensic pathologists and the investigations they get involved with.

Wong's involvement is set to mark an on-screen reunion of sorts between himself and Emilia Fox, who plays Dr Nikki Alexander and has fronted the show since 2004, as the pair previously starred together in ITV's Strangers back in 2018.

In Silent Witness' new episodes, Wong will play Adam Yeun, a confident, bright pathologist who initially rubs Nikki and Jack (David Caves) up the wrong way.

"I am so excited to be joining Silent Witness, like everyone else I have been a huge fan of the show for years and to be becoming part of the family feels like a huge privilege." he said in a prepared statement.

"I can't wait for audiences to see all we have in store for them in this new series."

"It's fantastic to be back filming Series 24 of Silent Witness with five terrific new storylines, our wonderful crew, great new casts for each story and to be welcoming the very lovely and talented Jason Wong to the Lyell team, who is an absolute joy to work with," Fox added.

Filming is now underway on the new episodes, nine months after the series 23 finale aired back in February.

"We are so delighted to be filming Silent Witness and to welcome Jason," Jo McClellan, Executive Producer, BBC One, concluded.

"Series 24 is going to be brilliant and, although fans will have to wait a little while longer than usual to see it, I promise them it is worth it!"

In recent years, Wong has also appeared in Solo: A Star Wars Story and in Guy Ritchie's The Gentlemen. He will next be seen on the big screen in eagerly anticipated action thriller The 355.
