Simon Jordan eviscerates Celtic diehard Rod Stewart over 'emu mentality' after X-rated Scottish football jab

Raging Simon Jordan has lashed out at Sir Rod Stewart after the Celtic diehard told him to “leave Scottish football alone”.

Ahead of Celtic seeing off Rangers in a thrilling title race with their win over Kilmarnock seeing them cross the finishing line the former Crystal Palace owner appeared on talkSPORT and suggested top Scottish teams would struggle in the English Championship during a heated on air clash with Ibrox legend Graeme Souness. Singer Stewart then took to his Instagram page to declare he was "sick and tired of the constant deriding and disrespect of Scottish football" from the pundit – before telling Jordan to "shut the f*** up".

Host Jim White revealed on the radio station he had a text from the rocker directing him to his social media where he had taken a swipe at Jordan over his criticism of Scottish football. That saw Jordan burst into a heated rant as he slammed Stewart – claiming he should support Tottenham or Arsenal rather than Celtic.

And amid a string of personal attacks aimed at the 79-year-old, the "motormouth" pundit also slapdown Scottish football and the standard of the game north of the border. Responding to Stewart, he said: "He is from bloody Highgate (in London) for crying out loud.

"I only attack Scottish football because it is a low-hanging fruit – which is incidentally what you would find under Rod's kilt if you looked – but I realise Rod is a national treasure, and nobody wants to offend a national treasure, but the flip side of this is that I have almost got to the point where I want to strangle myself with a pair of his unfathomably tight trousers if I need to listen to another story about his private jet. But why would anybody be talking about Scottish football? He should be thanking me for talking about Scottish football – especially since coming from Highgate he should be supporting Arsenal or Tottenham.

"If you get a surveyor round your house and they tell you there is a leaky roof, you don't tell him to shut his gob because of what he said. You listen the to validity of the points and think if there is a any substance behind it.

"The two biggest clubs in Scotland can't even put fans in their stadiums (for Old Firm games). The rest of the domestic league is sub-standard. The two top sides aren't what they used to be.

"So where is the unfair observation? Rod Stewart – as far as I am interested in his witterings – attack the argument. I make the point about Scottish football. He says he is fed up with people down south where he lives criticising Scottish football, but it is like an emu mentality – he is burying his head in the sand.

"But the bottom line about Scottish football is that it's not disrespectful – I want it to be better. It's a poor example of Scottish football that outside of the two biggest clubs nobody makes an impression on the league. It's a poor indication that the broadcast deals and sponsorship are worth nothing. It's a poor indication that there is no real players coming out of Scotland that look like Graeme Souness or Kenny Dalglish. What is unfair about that? Why don't you deal with my argument, go away Rod. Sing us a song, you are a singer."
