Simon Jordan savages Scottish football in scattergun attack as he dismisses national team job prestige

Simon Jordan has savaged Scottish football in a scattergun attack of the game north of the border.

The talkSPORT co-host had just filleted the appeal of the Wales job after it was confirmed that Rob Page had been sacked as nation team boss. They missed out on Euro 2024 and struggled to a goalless draw against Gibraltar in a recent friendly before Slovakia thumped them 4-0, signalling the end for Page.

Jordan questioned why any high profile boss would consider taking over. Morning show host Jim White then asked whether the Scotland job was a good one, and the mouth Londoner went in two-footed on the Scottish Premiership, Celtic and Rangers in a brutal takedown of the Scottish game, in particular the much maligned TV deal negotiated by SPFL chief executive Neil Doncaster. When put on the spot about the top job in the country, Jordan replied: "In comparison to what? A proper job like England?

"Scottish football ins't exactly in the rudest of health. They have a Scottish Premiership that my mate Rod Stewart seems to think is worth encouraging, but I don't. A broadcast deal that has no value and two teams at the top of the pyramid who can't even get fans in their own stadiums.

"They don't have the talent coming through like the Sounesses, Hansens or a Kenny Dalglish. It's not a bad job but if want me to say it's a great job, I won't."
