Oven cleaning is likely one of the household chores that is most likely to be put off. However, the longer this task is delayed, the more challenging it becomes to achieve a gleaming oven, especially when it comes to the glass door.

While there's a plethora of oven cleaners available in the market, they are laden with harsh chemicals. In an effort to "never" use harmful oven cleaners, Joanne and Tracy, the duo behind @additivefreelifestyle on Instagram, have revealed a simple method they believe "you'll be blown away" by.

They've shared a video demonstrating how households can utilise lemons to clean their oven glass door and the entire appliance, reports the Express.

The influencers captioned the video: "For years I have used our soft cleaning scrub and although that's great, it can be a pain to get out and leaves residue sometimes. I'll never use it again now I know how to do this. And I'll never use the toxic stuff from the shops, which I certainly did before I knew better."

To clean your oven "naturally", begin by slicing up your lemons (you may need several depending on how dirty the oven is), put them into a casserole dish, top with water and bake them in the oven at 200C for 30 minutes. The combination of the citrus and water will steam the oven, acting as a natural grease buster and softening the grime inside.

Afterwards, switch off the oven and choose to either keep the door shut to let it cool or open it up to speed up the cooling process, which will also include the lemons and water inside.

Next, give the oven's interior doors and walls a bit of a scrubemploying some lemon water if necessaryand then wipe clean. The influencers shared: "With the stubborn areas and racks I rubbed over the cooked lemon and then it easily scrubbed off. You'll be blown away."

For those wanting to go the extra mile, the heated lemon concoction can also be used to cut through grease on the stovetop and in the microwave.
