Yahoo News “The Simpsons” will parody Silicon Valley with new star-studded episode
The dictionary definition of "old money" might as well come with a picture of The Simpsons villain Mr. Burns. But Springfield's leading industrialist is about to get swept off his feet by the new fortunes of Silicon Valley.
On this Sunday's star-studded episode of the long-running American animated series, Mr. Burns is about to fall head over heels for Persephone (Elizabeth Banks), a young college-dropout-turned-CEO who seems more than a little inspired by real-life Theranos founder (and current prison inmate) Elizabeth Holmes.
Embracing Silicon Valley's motto of "fake it until you make it," Persphone persuades Mr. Burns to fund her highly-dubious dream project. And it looks like wedding bells might be sounding in Springfield, if the exclusive photos below are to be believed.
The new episode is titled "Thirst Trap: A Corporate Love Story," and will feature a slew of star cameos. Two journalists who have covered Silicon Valley in real life, Kara Swisher and Andrew Ross Sorkin, will appear as themselves, while documentarian Ken Burns returns to the show. Director Peter Jackson, journalist Christiane Amanpour, and actor Peter Coyote will also appear in the new episode.
