Sir Paul McCartney announces first London shows in 6 years

Sir Paul McCartney has unveiled plans for his first UK shows since headlining Glastonbury in 2022. The Beatles icon, 81, is set to carry his Got Back tour to London and Manchester this coming December.

He expressed: "I'm excited to be ending my year and 2024 tour dates in the UK. It's always such a special feeling to play shows on our home soil. It's going to be an amazing end to the year. Let's get set to party. I can't wait to see you."

Sir Paul's upcoming gigs will take place in Manchester's Co-Op Live arena on December 14 and 15 and London's O2 on December 18 and 19. The Got Back concert will feature a selection of music spanning Sir Paul's illustrious career, including Beatles and Wings songs as well as his solo tracks.

The gig announcement comes as Sir Paul's first live performances in the UK since taking to the stage at Glastonbury in June 2022, becoming the festival's most senior solo headliner. The performance had surprise appearances from Bruce Springsteen and Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl.

During a segment that lasted over two hours, Sir Paul belted out Beatles and Wings tunes, sharing the spotlight with Springsteen for renditions of Glory Days and I Wanna Be Your Man. He then wowed crowds when he brought Grohl onto stage to perform I Saw Her Standing There and Band On The Run.

Aside from the anticipated UK stops, the Got Back show will also visit France and Spain, following previous announcements of forthcoming gigs in Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, and Peru this October. Paul has also just announced shows in France and Spain today.

In 2022, he kicked off his Got Back tour, performing 16 shows across the US before making an appearance at Glastonbury.The following year, in 2023, he delivered 18 performances in Australia, Mexico, and Brazil.

Tickets for his UK shows will be available from 10am on June 21.
