We waited and waited, and finally we got the Sister Act reunion that we all wanted.

The cast of the 1992 movie got back together on The View yesterday (September 14) and gave us all an incredible choir performance to mark 25 years since the first movie was released. Check it out below:

The cast, including Kathy Najimy (Sister Mary Patrick) and Wendy Makkena (Sister Mary Robert) also sat down to recall making the movie, with Whoopi Goldberg admitting that they had not had a reunion before.

Najimy also revealed that she partly got her role because she impressed music supervisor Marc Shaiman with an opera song.

"He said, 'Do that! Don't do anything else," she recalled.

However, Goldberg had "no intention" of singing in the movie, something that changed when she was paired with Jennifer Lewis and Charlotte Crossley.

"I knew that these two ladies had the perfect sense of humor, besides musicality, to make Whoopi just feel comfortable," Shaiman explained.

They recalled some of the more wild times they had on set, while Dame Maggie Smith (who was absent from the reunion) sent a special video message to her co-stars.

Sister Act was swiftly followed up with a sequel in 1993 called Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit, and a long-running musical which has been performed both on Broadway and the West End.

Goldberg recently attended a special screening of Sister Act in New York, and has also opened up about the possibility of doing a third movie.

"I think that there will be a Sister Act 3," she said. "But I don't know that I would be Deloris, which is okay, because it's time for someone to do it.

"But it's such a fun piece that I'm hoping someone will do it. Maybe I'll direct it..."
