A six-bedroom house is up for auction this week with a guide price of just £125,000.

The house is located on Arundel Avenue in Sefton Park, one of the most sought-after areas of Liverpool.

But anyone brave enough to make an offer on the house will have their work cut out. The property needs a total revamp to turn it back into the beautiful family home it once was.

The house, which is a short walk from Sefton Park, has suffered severe fire damage. Photographs of the interior show where fire ripped through the property, with the stairs blackened and the walls and ceilings scarred by the blaze.

Venmore Auctions, the auctioneers in charge of the sale, describe the house has having a "shell-like construction internally".

Not only is the house fire-damaged, it is also full of waste and discarded possessions. It would likely take weeks to clear it before work on the restoration could begin.

The property has bags of potential, though. Behind the fire damage and the piles of rubbish there are beautiful original features, including Art Nouveau-style frosted windows and a battlement design on the front of the house, like something you might see on a medieval castle.

Venmores claim that "once works have been completed will provide a strong resale opportunity." According to property website Zoopla, the average sold price for a property in Arundel Avenue in the last 12 months is £305,000.

The house will go up for online auction on July 10. More details are available here.
