Six teenagers tried to 'take items from victim's hands' on Hanley street

A gang of six teenagers tried to snatch 'items from their victim's hands' during an attempted robbery on a city centre street. The male victim was on Hanley's St John Street when he was set upon by the gang.

Now Staffordshire Police is appealing for witnesses over the incident. The force say the teenagers targeted their victim at around 7.15pm on June 19.

Meanwhile PCSO Michelle Chadwick, who covers the area, says the victim was assaulted during the incident. Investigating officers are keen to hear from any witnesses who spotted the attempted robbery on the residential terrace street.

A spokeswoman said: "We received a call to reports of an attempted robbery on St John Street, Hanley. A group of six teenagers were reported to be attempting to take items from the victim’s hands and rucksack.

"If you have any information that could help with our enquiries, please call us."

Anyone with information should call the constabulary on 101 and quote incident 580 of June 19.
