Sky celebrates 10-year anniversary of Sky+ with designer 1TB HD boxes

Sky+ is now 10-years-old and, to celebrate, the satellite broadcaster has commission limited edition designs for its 1TB Sky+HD box from 10 different designers. Available to subscribers for a additional fee, interest in each design can be registered on a dedicated website, designerbox.sky.com.

The 10 separate designs come from some of the biggest names in British fashion, including Matthew Williamson, Richard Nicoll, Celia Birtwell, Julie Verhoeven, Solange Azagury-Partridge and Farrow & Ball. However, if you're feeling saucy, you can always opt for the one by lingerie design house Agent Provocateur (our particular fave here at Pocket-lint).

Each design is also carried on to the Sky+ remote that comes with each satellite receiver.

Matthew Williamson, designer of one of the new editions which can be seen on the web page, explained his choice of pattern: "This is a print I have taken from my new SS12 collection," he said. "The collection had a slight Japanese influence, notable here in the cut out areas of the Tokyo skyline visible within the distorted floral motifs. I wanted the edges to appear neon and light-phased and have recoloured my original print in electric blue with a synthetic mint green contrast to emphasise this effect of blurred illumination.

Sky promises delivery of the limited edition boxes for before Christmas, and they cost £49 per box for existing Sky customers upgrading to the HD pack, £149 for new customers joining with the HD pack.

Of course, if, like us, you have a kit cabinet under your telly, you'll be tempted to hide your beautifully-designed new Sky box away. That'd be a shame, however; these are most definitely not for hiding.

Except, perhaps, the Agent Provocateur one... when Granny comes around.
