Sky News Reporter Live Broadcasts Being Forcibly Ejected From Conservative Election Campaign Event

A Sky News journalist was forcibly removed from an event at which UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak launched the Conservative election campaign.

Political correspondent Darren McCaffrey was muscled out of the room live on air, just as Sunak was about to take the stage at an event at London’s Excel centre.

McCaffrey told Sky News viewers that he was being ejected because there were “pool arrangements in place,” meaning the event was already being filmed for a group of UK broadcasters.

He was marched through a corridor by security but continued to broadcast live until he reached a lift. McCaffrey returned to air minutes later but had been removed from the building altogether.

Producer Josh Gafson pictured the incident. “Security are currently forcing our Sky News team out for for no apparent reason,” he wrote.

The moment, which is going viral on social media, marks an inauspicious start to Sunak’s election campaign. He called the election at Downing Street earlier on Wednesday, but was drenched by rain and his speech was drowned out by a protester blasting D:Ream hit Things Can Only Get Better.
