Slimming World friendly 'cake' recipe can have any time of day

This Slimming World friendly "cake" recipe can be enjoyed any time of the day.

The dish can be made in just a few simple steps and was created by Instagram foodie Cakeontherun. The baked oats are low in fat and calories, which means it is perfect for people following food optimising plans such as Slimming World or Weight Watchers.

It uses just a few ingredients, including oats, egg, yoghurt, fruit and a drop of vanilla essence. The recipe also has the added benefit of being high in fibre, reports SurreyLive.

Healthy food creator Cakeontherun has shared her simple recipe based on the Slimming World favourite, to create fruity baked oats cake. You can slice it up and have a portion each day may it be for breakfast, lunch or dessert.

Baked oats recipe (serves 5)

Ingredients

  • 120g rolled porridge oats

  • 250g any low fat plain or vanilla yoghurt

  • Splash vanilla essence

  • 3 eggs

  • Plus 4 tbsp extra yoghurt and your choice of fruit to serve

Method

  1. Pre-heat your oven to 200°C/400°F/gas 6.

  2. Put oats, yoghurt, vanilla and eggs into a large bowl and mix with a spoon until combined.

  3. Line an 8 inch cake tin with baking paper, pour the mixture into it and oven cook for 30 minutes.

  4. Serve with yoghurt and fruit.

Make it dairy free - use coconut, almond or soya yoghurt.
