More Work for St Patrick? Snake Seen Near Train Line in Ireland

St Patrick may have chased the snakes out of Ireland, but it seems he’s left one behind, video taken recently by a worker in Cork shows.

Colm Twohig captured the unusual moment a brightly colored serpent was spotted slithering near a railway line in the famously snake-free country on Monday, March 11.

“Came across a snake while working in Cork railway station,” Twohig told Storyful. “The snake was about three feet long.”

In an interview, James Hennessy, Zoo Director for the National Reptile Zoo, identified the reptile as a corn snake, and said it is a very common pet. Hennessy added that the snake is “totally harmless” and poses zero risk to the public.
