Sneaky seagull caught on camera pinching papers from North Wales newsagents

A sneaky seagull who previously had a taste for pastries is back thieving again - but this time he has a thirst for news. Last year the Late Stop store on Holyhead Road in Bangor had an issue with a particular gull swooping in to pinch croissants.

The bird - nicknamed Steven Seagull after the action hero actor - has now returned. But it seems he's watching his weight and is more interested in keeping up with current affairs as he's targeting newspapers.

One raid has been caught on camera as he got his beak on a copy of this week's news. While a wise owl may have picked the Daily Post the gull went for the Cambrian News to keep abreast of the latest news in Mid Wales and south Gwynedd.

He lifts a copy of the latest edition from the newspaper stand and makes a quick exit out the door. Perhaps it will end up as wrapping for the next batch of chips he bags.

Bipin Chawla, from Late Stop Bangor, said: "Breaking News. Last year we had a regular visiting Seagull coming to our store and helping himself to croissants on a daily basis. We nicknamed him Steven Seagull.

"We now find he has returned this summer very refreshed and now obviously bettering himself he is no longer wanting to eat junk food. But instead he has decided to improve his knowledge probably with the oncoming election."

Sharing the video on Facebook, he added: "Seeing is believing."
