Snow falls in Staffordshire Moorlands in day of wild weather
Snow is falling high up in the hills above the Staffordshire Moorlands today. The snow has been falling in the Morridge area, above Leek.
One StokeonTrentLive reader said: "The weather is wild. The wind and rain was awful overnight and turned to hail and snow showers this morning. More heavy rain to come all day and tonight."
It comes as high winds have already left a trail of destruction around Leek this morning. Garden Street has been shut due to debris on the road, businesses have been forced to shut, and a tree has come down on Stockwell Street.
Elsewhere in North Staffordshire, there has been even greater damage on St Giles Road, in Knutton, after a tornado struck at 6.32am today. The tornado has sent caravans, fence panels and sheds flying.
A yellow weather warning for wind covering North Staffordshire remains in place until 10pm tonight.
