Snowboarder Swept Away by Avalanche on New Hampshire Mountain

A snowboarder got caught in an avalanche caused by a nearby skier on New Hampshire’s Mount Washington on Saturday, February 25.

Video taken by RJ Phipps shows a skier descend ‘The Lip’ on Tuckerman Ravine and trigger a small avalanche, which sweeps up a snowboarder further down and partially buries him a few hundred feet down in a rocky area.

Both the skier and snowboarder were unharmed, according to local news reports.

Phipps told local media the avalanche “kind of sounds a little bit like a freight train.

“I was doing my best to keep an eye on where he was coming down. Hopefully, he would just come through this without any problems,” Phipps added. Credit: R.J. Phipps via Storyful
