SNP MPs mocked for crowding around a TV camera ‘like Antiques Roadshow’

Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and her fellow SNP MPs has been mocked after appearing in an interview on Sky News crowding a camera “like on Antiques Roadshow.’

Ms Sturgeon, who advocates an extension to Article 50 and second referendum on Brexit, said she wants to have further discussions on leaving the European Union with the Prime Minister.

She added that the Brexit chaos engulfing Britain makes the case for Scottish independence “increasingly clear.”

But she and her colleagues have been mercilessly mocked on social media for the way they delivered the message.

On Twitter, deputy political editor at the Mail Online Harry Cole posted a screenshot of the interview alongside the comment: “Do they not realise how weird the crowding round thing looks?”

Others responded likening the scene to something from the Muppets, Antiques Roadshow or a music video.

“Nicola Sturgeon appears to be on the Antiques Roadshow,” Matthew O’Toole tweeted alongside a screenshot of the interview.

One person responded: “She doesn’t like the advice that it is better to keep an item as part of a set, and not to try to break it up.”

Politics blogger Point of Order said that it was “good to see the old gang still find time to hang out” alongside a picture of a scene from the animated film Chicken Run.

One person posted an edited picture of the screen with the caption “Straight Outta Scotland.”

Another questioned if the picture was even real.

“Are they actually there or is it a picture on a green screen?” Matthew Stewart tweeted.
