Luxury private members club Soho House has announced its first Manchester venue has been delayed AGAIN amid "unforeseen building delays". They say it will not open until "early 2025".

The venue had initially been scheduled to open in late 2022, after bosses began a huge refurbishment of the old Granada Studios building just off Quay Street in Manchester city centre. The ambitious build includes a new rooftop pool, an extensive gym and late-night bar and lounge, but has been delayed numerous times.

The project was hit by further delays earlier this year when its constructor, AJ Constructions, entered administration and ceased trading, as revealed by the MEN in May. Now it will be at least another six months before it will open, bosses say.

Memberships for the venue were first opened amid a blaze of publicity in June 2023 - with the plan at that stage for Soho House Manchester to open by the end of 2023. Members already paying their £1,925-a-year subs for the venue were contacted by email this morning to reveal the news of further delays.

The email, seen by the MEN, says: "Despite our best efforts and hard work over the last 12 months, we are facing unforeseen construction delays that are sadly out of our control, and as a result now expect to open our doors early next year.

"I understand this isn't the news you were hoping for and... am truly sorry for the disappointment and inconvenience this may cause."

The MEN understands that those already paying their membership fees will be offered credits that can be used for stays or food and drink tabs at other Soho Houses across the world to compensate for the ongoing delays in Manchester.

The email added: "Together with our development partners, our priority is to ensure that every aspect of Soho House Manchester meets the high standards you've come to expect from our Houses."

Soho House will take over five floors of the former Granada Studios building, while another five floors of the vast space will become a Mollie's Hotel, a sister venue from the operator, inspired by American motels.

The interiors of Soho House Manchester will "take inspiration from the history of the Old Granada Studios and its 1950s-1960s heritage". It is set to boast an eclectic collection of bespoke and vintage furniture pieces which will "reference the era of the building".

There will be an "extensive members' gym" with studio space for classes, a steam room and sauna that will open on to a balcony. An outdoor rooftop pool will boast sunbeds and a pool bar while a spiral staircase connects to the 9th floor above, where a late-night bar and live music space will overlook the pool.

On the eighth floor will be a casual lounge area for food and drinks, and a members' restaurant for more formal dining. On the 7th floor there will be a flexible events space with large central bar and DJ booth.

Soho House Manchester will also offer 23 bedrooms on the 6th floor dedicated to members, which will range from cosy rooms to large suites plus a vast two-bedroom private apartment that can be booked.

Membership of Soho House is open to "creatives" and involves filling in an application form. Once approved for membership, you gain access to the House with up to three guests.

Membership costs £2,950 a year for access to over 40 Soho Houses globally, or £1,925 a year for access to Soho House Manchester only. Under-27s members will pay a reduced rate, with details avaialble on the application form.
