Somerset family building bubble tea empire as second shop opens

A new bubble tea shop is opening in Yeovil this Saturday. Boba Corner will open at 11am on Wine Street and is the first bubble tea shop in town.

Boba Corner co-owner Mitzi was inspired to open her first shop in Taunton after long trips to get the drink with her sister. She said: "Me and my sister love bubble tea, we usually went to Bristol or Exeter to grab some because there was none in Taunton."

The Taunton branch, which opened in April 2022 and was the only bubble tea shop in town at the time, was a runaway success. Mitzi has been working on the new Yeovil location for the past six months: "Hopefully, people will love it as much as they do in Taunton!"

Boba Corner is truly a family business: Mitzi owns with her sister Joyce, husband Rez, and Mark, another director who is "like a brother". Mitzi would like to thank customers for supporting the business: "We're very thankful because obviously, we wouldn't last even for two years without our customers. We've built a relationship with them now; it's really nice, small community."

If it's your first time ordering bubble tea, Mitzi has some recommendations: "For a milk tea, I'd recommend sticking with our classic, signature brown sugar milk tea. For a fruit tea, I'd go with something like blueberry or even peach."

As for her favourite?: "I love matcha, but I know it's not for everyone! Some people say 'it tastes funny, it tastes like grass'. But that's my go-to drink: matcha forever!"

Boba Corner will open tomorrow at 14 Wine Street, Yeovil. Its Taunton shop is already open for business.
