A Somerset farmer popped the question to his girlfriend by etching 'marry me' into his field. Chloe Morley, 27, was left trembling with joy after her partner, Tom Heal, 30, proposed in a manner that was truly close to their roots.

The couple, who have been together for four years, savoured this beautiful moment at sunset last Friday (May 17). Pretending to have forgotten his dinner at home, Tom lured Chloe down to his field near Hinkley Point, Somerset, where she arrived with food.

Chloe, a veterinary nurse, said: "It was just a normal evening of a tractor tea run whilst Tom was silaging. Nothing unusual at all to have to take tea out to him as often can't stop when they're busy!"

"I hadn't been at work on the Friday and had been for a day out so was really tired and at first was reluctant to rush out there with tea! But of course I'm now very glad I did!"

She admits that she and Tom were so engrossed in conversation that she initially missed the proposal. She elaborated: "We were just chatting away on our way to the field and I was deep in conversation so at first didn't even see the field! Once I did I was a wreck! I was shaking so much!"

"I honestly couldn't believe it was happening as getting married had been on the cards for a little while but I honestly had no idea."
