All votes cast in this year's General Election have now been counted in Somerset and the county has been won over by the Liberal Democrats. A Labour victory has been declared nationally but in Somerset have favoured the Lib Dems, who have taken seven of the 11 constituencies in the region while the Conservatives have taken brutal losses across the UK.

Jacob Rees-Mogg, one of the biggest names in Tory politics in recent years, has lost his seat in North East Somerset - a seat he had held for 14-years since 2010. He has been unseated by Labour's Dan Norris, who himself held the seat until Mr Rees-Mogg took over. Mr Norris is currently the Metro Mayor for the West of England, a role he says he will continue to do for the rest of his term alongside his role as MP.

Labour have also won a seat in Weston-super-Mare, a first in the constituency's history. Conservative John Penrose held the seat for almost 20 years but pollsters were predicting a victory for Labour's Dan Aldrigde - and were proved correct. Elsewhere in Somerset however, Liberal Democrats have swept to victory, with the Conservatives holding on to a single constituency foothold in Bridgwater.

Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey celebrated the party’s election results by dancing and singing to Sweet Caroline with supporters in central London. Sir Ed laughed as he twirled around with his hands in the air singing the Neil Diamond classic while party supporters sang along and waved orange Lib Dem posters. The party leader hugged attendees as he danced his way towards the stage to deliver a short speech following his stunt-packed election campaign.

Out of Somerset's 11 constituencies, the Liberal Democrats have seven MPs, Labour have three and the Conservatives have one. Read on below for the full breakdown by voting area.
