South Molton flies rainbow flag in support of World Pride Day

South Molton Town Council have led the way in flying the rainbow flag for World Pride Day 2024.

Emily Abbott from the town council said: “ North Devon is known to be a little behind the times and we want to show that we are a welcoming community. Same sex couples sometimes don’t feel comfortable out and about and we want everybody to be able to be able to enjoy the town and its amenities.”

Wayne Martin deputy mayor of South Molton was happy to put the flag up over the Town Hall on June 28 and will fly over the town hall until the end of Pride Month.

Cllr Martin said: ”I am very proud as Deputy Mayor to fly the flag over the South Molton Town Hall in order to champion diversity, equality and inclusion.”
