South Ribble went to the polls today to decide who their local MP will be and of course have their say on which party will govern the country.

The exit polls are predicting a landslide Labour victory, with Sir Keir Starmer expected to become the UK's new Prime Minister - a victory for Sir Keir would see Labour return to power for the first time in 14 years. Labour are expected to win 410 seats, with the Conservative Party predicted to experience huge losses. The polls predict the Tories will only win 131 seats.

Prior to the election being called, the MP was Conservative Katherine Fletcher who has served South Ribble since 2019. There are more than a dozen seats up for grabs in Lancs - including some where boundaries have been re-drawn. Long standing MPs could lose their majority - while in Blackpool South, the county's newest MP will be hoping to hold on to his seat, having only been in Westminster for four weeks before the General Election was called.
