SpaceX Falcon 9 Rocket Seen Soaring Over Mexico

SpaceX launched a Falcon 9 rocket from the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California on Thursday, October 27.

Footage taken by Mauro Durazo shows the rocket lighting up the sky above Hermosillo in Sonora, Mexico. According to local media, the rocket was spotted from at least 100 miles away, with sightings reported from Nevada to northwest Mexico.

The Falcon 9 rocket was carrying 53 Starlink satellites into orbit, SpaceX said. The rocket’s first stage made a pinpoint landing on the SpaceX droneship in the Pacific Ocean about nine minutes after the launch, according to reports. Credit: Mauro Durazo via Storyful
