Call Special Branch! Bizarre CCTV footage shows thief stealing plants from front garden

A thief has been caught on camera stealing a homeowner’s potted plants from their front garden.

The green-fingered culprit’s actions were captured on CCTV in front of a house on Park Hill Road, Harborne, in Birmingham.

The footage, taken at 8.42pm on 26 July, shows a man reversing a car on to a driveway then filling its boot with three large plants from the front of the property.

He returns to gather each plant pot and load them individually into the back of the silver Ford Focus.

After closing the boot, he hurries into the car then drives away.

West Midlands Police posted the video on social media in an appeal for information.

The force wrote: "Do you recognise this man?

"We want to speak to him after three plant pots were stolen from a drive on Park Hill Road, Harborne, shortly before 9pm on Sunday 26 July.

The clip drew a wide reaction from social media users.

Chris Berry wrote: "Bad times we live in when you can't even have plant pots without someone stealing them."
