The founder of a Chester-based children's choir has hailed their Britain's Got Talent audition as "life-changing". AmaSing wowed both the crowd and judges - Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli - with their "very special" performance during last night's episode of the hit ITV show.

Director and founder Rachael Borman organised the appearance with both Simon and Bruno surprising the children with an invite to perform on-stage - by popping out of a huge present box wheeled in during the choir's end-of-term party. She told Cheshire Live: "We wanted to do something really special for the children.

"Simon and Bruno made it really amazing for them. It worked perfectly. I was a bit worried about how they would react to the box opening but they were so excited.

"The noise - wow, we lost our ear drums! The children were full of enthusiasm. We are just so grateful to Britain's Got Talent for this amazing opportunity.

"We're only a tiny organisation. We've grown since we started in 2017 but the choir is one small part of it. We help thousands of kids by supporting mental health through the arts and with wellbeing lessons online. For us this is life-changing."

Rachael added: "The audition was at The Lowry in Manchester. The kids loved it. They all got to meet Ant and Dec and that was a big highlight for them!

"On stage all that mattered was that they were happy - that's always our main aim. It gave them such a lovely experience and showcased the wonderful things they do.

"What makes it really special is the songs are the ones the kids have created. They come from all abilities and all walks of life. They're very special."

The 130-strong choir featured youngsters from schools across Chester and Ellesmere Port, as well as across the border in North Wales. They sang their own song - 'Be who you want to be' - and it proved a huge hit with both the judges and the audience, which included an emotional Rachael.

Simon said: "What I love about this choir is that every single one of these kids loves being in this and for me it's the best feeling in the world when you see kids like this owning the stage doing whatever you want, because that's what it's all about." The judges were unanimous in their decision to give AmaSing a fully-deserved 'yes'.
