Squid Game: The Challenge: Who should win Netflix reality show?

Following the Circle of Trust game in the ninth episode of the series, only three players remained in the competition: Sam Wells, player 016, Mai Whelan, player 287, and Phill Cain, player 451.

Sam - player 016

Sam made it to the final three by being strategic, letting other players take the risks and building strategic alliances so that he could make it through the competition with more ease.

He was left in a difficult position when he was given the third most difficult shape, the star, in the Dalgona challenge, in which the players must cut out shapes out of the cookie without breaking it. However the 37-year-old artist was able to succeed in the challenge, and his alliances in the competition also came in handy when his allies voted to keep him in the game

Should he win, Sam will use the prize money to buy a large art studio and also help his husband with his film projects, he also plans to use the money to rescue animals, and for investment purposes.

Mai - player 287

Mai has been a strong player in the competition, using her experiences as a refugee in the United States to ensure she remains "strong" in the face of adversity, meaning she was able to keep her cool in the difficult challenges the players were faced with over the course of the series.

While Mai has been steadfast in her quest for the finish line she has made friends and enemies alike in the competition, bringing her at odds with several players and making for surprising TV.

The 55-year-old adjudicator intends to use the prize money to buy a home where she can spend her retirement, and she also plans to donate to causes she believes in should she win the prize money.

Phill - player 451

Phill is the dark horse of the competition, having chosen to go with the flow and having no grand plans in place to ensure his place in the final three, or even winning the whole series.

Despite his happy-go-lucky attitude to the series, Phill was able to outmaneuver his competitors in games like Dalgona, Marbles, and the Circle of Trust. While he has also maintained important alliances during the competition which helped keep him in the competition, even if he didn't offer the same courtesy to his ally Hallie, player 355, in the penultimate episode.

Should he win the prize money Phill intends to give away a lot of his winning, and he intends to give money to his family and friends.

The Squid Game The Challenge finale airs on Netflix on Thursday, 7 December.
