St Lucia Prime Minister Surveys Damage After Beryl Tears Through Town

St Lucia Prime Minister Philip J Pierre surveyed damage in the town of Soufriere on Tuesday, July 2, after Hurricane Beryl moved through on Monday.

Video released by Pierre shows a flooded cemetery and piles of debris. “The cemetery got completely compromised with water,” Pierre says in the video, as he walks through.

Wind gusts as high as 63 mph were reported in Saint Lucia on Monday, the National Hurricane Center reported. The hurricane downed power lines, impacted the water supply, and left a trail of damage on the island, according to local reports. Credit: Philip J. Pierre via Storyful
