Stacey Dooley had only "just stopped feeling sick" from pregnancy when she began filming her latest docuseries across the pond.

During an interview with OK!, the Strictly star also discussed the American knack for brewing a disappointing cup of tea – something she dealt with on a daily basis during the making of Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over USA.

"I was actually pregnant when we were filming, and I had just stopped feeling sick!" Stacey said.

"I was allowed one cup of tea a day and I had this sacred box of Yorkshire tea bags that I carried everywhere with me. Americans are amazing in so many ways, but they can't make a cup of tea!

"Doesn't matter how many times you ask them to make sure the water is piping hot, they just can't make a decent cuppa. I had this box that I would carry from state to state. It was that and the passport that were the most precious things in the suitcase!"

In this three-part series, Stacey meets a 9-year-old named Autumn who lives in an RV and owns 36 guns, a couple who have both transitioned since falling in love 12 years ago, and Quran and Cheryl, who tied the knot despite their 37-year age gap.

"I love filming with all families, but I think there's a slightly different dynamic when you go to America," the documentarian said.

"I find Americans are much more willing to tell you what they think. I think they self-edit less and they're less concerned about how they're going to come across. I find Americans are a lot more upfront, which is a gift, of course, when you're making a documentary."

Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over USA premieres Wednesday, February 22 on W.
