Stacey Solomon is set to present a new Christmas craft show for the BBC similar to Kirstie Allsopp’s festive show at Channel 4.

In a new raft of factual shows announced for the BBC, a one-off festive special fronted by the TV presenter, Craft Your Own Christmas with Stacey Solomon, has been unveiled.

The show description says that Solomon will be showing viewers how to create a budget Christmas and will be “sharing tips on how to make hand-made gifts and decorations that cost next to nothing - but mean so much more than anything you can buy from the shops”.

Channel 4 has been airing a similar concept fronted by property expert Kirstie Allsopp, Kirstie's Handmade Christmas, since 2014 and it is due back on screens this year.

She also features craft projects for making presents and decorations each Christmas.

Solomon, who has detailed her DIY home renovation on Instagram and presents BBC decluttering series Sort Your Life Out, said: “Christmas is one of the most magical times of the year!

"There's no better feeling than giving someone the perfect gift, especially when it's one I've made at home with my little helpers. DIY gifts mean so much more and save a bit of money too, as do hand-crafted decorations which we love making for our tree.

Other factual shows announced for the BBC include a new series of Louis Theroux interviews where he will meet Stormzy, Dame Judi Dench, Rita Ora, Bear Grylls, Yungblud and Katherine Ryan.

The return of travel contest Race Across The World has also been announced, which will move to a new home at BBC One and this year will challenge pairs of contestants to race across Canada on a tiny budget and without using flights to win £20,000.
