A Staffordshire football club is seeking a new keeper — but not the kind usually found on the team. Stafford Town FC are seeking a 'full-time' beekeeper after a swarm took up residence at their home ground, Evans Park.

The bees have taken over an advertising hoarding at the pitch side at the ground in Riverway, Stafford. The club shared an image of the bees, numbering in their hundreds clinging tightly to the fence.

Stafford Town play in the North West Counties League Division One South, in the tenth tier of English football. In a post to X/Twitter, the club said: "KEEPER WANTED!

"Not the type you’d think either. We are on the look out for a new, full time bee keeper."

They added: "No cash payment but you can keep all the honey."

Fans were quick to quip back, with one saying: "You'd be buzzing with that move!"

Another said: "Och that’s a sting in your budget".
