Steph McGovern doesn't reveal daughter's name in case she gets trolled

Steph McGovern has revealed she keeps her daughter’s name to herself because she doesn’t want to expose her to the pressures of the public eye.

The Steph’s Packed Lunch presenter welcomed her little girl in 2019 and although McGovern confirmed she had become a mum she hasn’t shared many other details.

The notoriously private star, 39, also keeps quiet about her girlfriend’s identity.

She has now told Woman & Home that she wants to protect her loved ones from being trolled.

According to the Daily Mail, the star said that she doesn’t “think it's fair to put them out there”.

She said if she did, her partner and daughter could end up having to face the “pressures of everyone having an opinion on them”.

McGovern said she still talks about her life, but that she just keeps some things to herself.

She said: “Someone contacted me on Instagram to say it's nice that I mention my partner and child in a normal way and not by going, ‘By the way everyone, I'm in a gay relationship! Whoa! Get the rainbow flag out!’

“I talk about it in a way that any parent would, I just don't say their names.”

McGovern announced in November 2019 that she and her partner had welcomed a baby girl.

The former BBC presenter tweeted at the time: “Well hello world, just surfaced to let you know that we now have a daughter!

“Born on Monday morning just as @BBCBreakfast was wrapping up. We’re all fine and dandy.
