Phillip Schofield’s wife Stephanie Lowe has said she will stand by her husband after he revealed he was gay, and said she loves him and “always will”.
The This Morning and Dancing On Ice presenter shocked the nation on Friday when he announced on Instagram that he was gay.
The post was followed by an emotional live interview with colleagues Holly Willoughby, Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes.
Now wife Steph has spoken about the revelation, saying she will always support the husband she has been married to for 27 years.
In a statement to The Sun, she said: "I love Phillip, as much today as I ever have, and always will.
"At the same time, we've been awestruck by the strength and love of our precious girls, even as they've been trying to make sense of it all for themselves.
"Although this is difficult for us all, I support Phillip in this taking this brave step and I will still be there, holding his hand.”
She also lauded family for being "so supportive” and said people should be proud “to live their own truth".
In a previous interview with The Sun On Sunday, Phillip admitted he was unsure what his future holds but said he, Steph and their two grown-up daughters “will always be a family”.
He said: “It has taken me a long time to get here, I am not rushing to get to any other place.
“We will always be a family. That is the one definite, constant, absolute positive thing. And where the wind blows us I don’t know.”
The couple married in 1993 while he was performing in Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
They had met several years prior when he was presenting on children’s television for the BBC and she was a production assistant.
