Stephen Amell to Star in ‘Suits: LA’ at NBC
The spinoff of Suits in the works at NBC has found its lead actor.
Stephen Amell will star in Suits: LA, a companion series to the former USA Network legal drama turned streaming phenomenon. Should it go to series, the project would mark Amell’s return to the broadcast world, where he played the title character in The CW’s Arrow for eight seasons.

Universal Studio Group’s UCP began developing a Suits spinoff with creator Aaron Korsh in October, following the show’s massive streaming success after it was added to Netflix in June 2023 (the show also streams on Peacock). NBC ordered a pilot for Suits: LA on Feb. 1 and is aiming to begin production in Vancouver in late March — which could put the show in contention for a spot in the network’s 2024-25 lineup.
Amell will play the lead role of Ted Black, a former New York prosecutor who now heads a Los Angeles law firm, specializing in criminal and entertainment law, alongside an old friend. Per the show’s logline, “His firm is at a crisis point, and in order to survive he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career.”
Korsh wrote Suits: LA and executive produces with fellow Suits alums David Bartis, Doug Liman and Gene Klein. Victoria Mahoney will direct and exec produce the pilot.
Amell is coming off the pro wrestling drama Heels at Starz, which ran for two seasons before the premium cabler canceled it (along with two other series) in a cost-cutting move last fall. The actor came under criticism in the early days of the SAG-AFTRA strike for saying he didn’t support the labor action — remarks he soon clarified by saying he fully supported the union and its leadership.
Amell will next be seen in Netflix’s sci-fi film Code 8: Part II, where he stars alongside his cousin Robbie. Stephen Amell is repped by UTA, Leverage Management and Sloane Offer.
