Stockport County FC have announced a huge promotion parade after the Hatters secured League One football.

An open-top bus parade and a trophy presentation will take place on Sunday, April 28, the club has announced with an invite for all fans to attend.

County were promoted for the second time in three seasons last weekend - a 2-0 win against Morecambe enough to secure their return to League One for the first time in 14 years. They secured the League Two title on Tuesday, with a 5-2 victory at Notts County sparking scenes of jubilation.

In a statement on Friday, the club said: "We are delighted to announce plans for an open-top bus parade and trophy presentation to take place on Sunday 28th April, as we celebrate our newly crowned League Two Champions.

"There is plenty to cheer about at the end of an historic season for Stockport County Football Club, as Dave Challinor's men secured a first EFL title for the club in 57 years – and with it, a place in League One next season.

"Now it’s time to celebrate, with the parade giving the people of Stockport the opportunity to share in the club’s success with our history makers as the trophy is paraded through the streets of Stockport."

As with the club's previous two title wins - in 2019 and 2022 - the players and staff will first attend a private civic ceremony at Stockport Town Hall.

The open-top bus will officially depart the town hall at 3pm.

The parade will start on Edward Street, before going across the A6 and slowly making its way down Greek Street and then on to Mercian Way.

It will then turn on to Hardcastle Road, before returning to Edgeley Park at around 3.40pm for the title trophy presentation.

The club added: "We'd love for everyone to line the streets along the way to give the boys a deserved champions welcome.

"We'd then like to then invite every supporter to join us inside the ground for one last time this season, for a trophy presentation. As in previous years, our champions will make their way out onto the Edgeley Park pitch one-by-one, each having their moment to lift the trophy in front of the Cheadle End.

"This event is expected to start at approximately 4pm, giving supporters plenty of time to safely enter the ground. In order for us to monitor the number of people inside the ground, supporters will need to book their place online in advance – this is priced at just £2, with all proceeds going to the County Community Trust.

"We will first sell places in the Cheadle End, before also opening up the Together Stand if required. After the presentation, which will be hosted by club president Steve Bellis, we will also be presenting the players with the End of Season Awards for 2023/24, before the event finishes at approximately 5.30pm.

"We hope you can all join us for what promises to be another special day at Edgeley Park, as we come together to congratulate our champions."
