Stoke City all but secured their place in next season’s Championship with a commanding 3-0 victory over relegation-threatened Plymouth Argyle.

Goals in the first half from Ki-Jana Hoever and Million Manhoef and a late strike from Wouter Burger gave the Potters all three points and lifted them to 17th in the table, six points clear of the bottom three with two games to go – although Sheffield Wednesday have a match in hand.

Not that too many people at the bet365 will be particularly anxious about that with Steven Schumacher’s men putting his former club to the sword and some players turning in excellent displays.

No-one more so than Jordan Thompson who moved into midfield and turned in a dogged display in his 150th game for the club. Stoke fans want to make sure he has many more too.
