Stoke-on-Trent Central general election 2024 results in full

Voters in Stoke-on-Trent Central have gone to the ballot box in the general election 2024.

A new Member of Parliament is being elected for the Staffordshire constituency which includes the following wards: Abbey Hulton; Basford & Hartshill; Bentilee, Ubberley & Townsend; Birches Head & Northwood; Boothen; nearly all of Etruria and Hanley; Bucknall & Eaton Park; Fenton East; Fenton West & Mount Pleasant; Hanley Park, Joiner’s Square & Shelton; Hartshill Park & Stoke; Meir Hay North, part of Parkhall & Weston Coney; part of Moorcroft & Sneyd Green; Penkhull & Springfields; Sandford Hill; Trent Vale & Oak Hill and a very small part of Longton & Meir Hay South.

In 2019, the seat was won by Conservative Jo Gideon. Before then, the seat had been held by Labour since its creation. Ms Gideon announced that she would not be standing for re-election in February this year.

The shock summer general election was called by Rishi Sunak on May 22, with elections taking place in all 650 seats across the UK. Since the 2019 general election major boundary changes affecting 90 per cent of Parliamentary constituencies have come into force.

Ahead of the election, a Conservative government had been in power in Parliament since 2010.

Polls closed in the general election 2024 at 10pm on Thursday, July 4, with counts taking place overnight. Results from across the UK are expected in the early hours of Friday morning.
