Police had also returned to nearby Longley Road on Sunday night. It comes as armed police were deployed following reports of a man 'walking around with a pellet gun' and 'shooting at windows' between 5.30pm and 7.30pm on Saturday.

One man - a 25-year-old from Stoke-on-Trent - was arrested over the weekend. He has now been bailed after being quizzed on suspicion of violent disorder.

Now it has emerged that three more Stoke-on-Trent men - aged 29, 31, and 64 - were yesterday arrested, questioned and bailed in connection with the same investigation. Two of them were arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm without a certificate. The other suspect was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life.

A police spokesman said: "We have arrested three more people as we continue to investigate an incident involving men with weapons in Stoke-on-Trent from the weekend. Officers were called at 5.45pm on Saturday to reports of a group of men with weapons on Rochester Road. We sent firearms officers to carry out a search of the area. No-one has been reported injured.

"We are still keen to speak to people who were in the area at the time or those with information that can help us with our enquiries. Officers are particularly keen to speak to those who were near Rochester Road, Longley Road or Edgefield Road at around 5.45pm on Saturday."
