Storm Causes Damage Across California's Capital City

A large tree blocked a road in Sacramento, California, as the National Weather Service (NWS) forecasted damaging winds in the region on Sunday, January 8.

Footage posted to Twitter by user @ke0n0tiger shows a toppled-over tree blocking cars on a road in Sacramento.

At least 12 people have died in a series of powerful atmospheric river storms that have battered California since December 31, according to news reports.

President Joe Biden approved an Emergency Declaration for the state on January 8 and ordered federal assistance to supplement response efforts.
