Storms Bring Flooding Rain to Farms in Drought-Stricken South-East Queensland

A deluge of rain left paddocks flooded near Brigalow in drought-stricken south-east Queensland on February 12.

More than 100mm of rain was recorded at the farm in Brigalow, according to Melissa Wegener who uploaded the video to Facebook. The Bureau of Meteorology recorded rainfall between 10-50 millimetres at various nearby stations between Chinchilla and Warra.

“The mungbeans & sorghum down there are not loving life at the moment,” said Melissa Wegener in a post to Facebook with the video.

As of December 2019, the Western Downs region was considered to be in full drought since April 2019 by the Queensland Government.
