Stourbridge Carnival promises to be the biggest and best yet

STOURBRIDGE Carnival is set to take place in the town centre this weekend and it promises to be a bumper family day out.

The popular event will see activities and performances take place around the town on Sunday July 7.

As has been the tradition in recent years, the free family fun day forms part of the month-long Black Country Festival,There which kicked off on Monday July 1.

Live music, stalls, street entertainment, fairground rides, street food and a vintage vehicle display will be among the attractions taking place in Coventry Street, High Street and Market Street, from 11am to 4pm.

The event, which has been organised by LSD Promotions and Dudley Council, promises to be one of the biggest and best-ever – thanks to the West Midlands Combined Authority and money awarded by the Commonwealth Games Legacy Funding.

Siobhan Noake, from LSD Promotions, said: "This year's Stourbridge Carnival is all about bringing the community together and celebrating the vibrant culture and talent within the town.

"We are thrilled to offer a diverse range of activities and performances that reflect the unique spirit of Stourbridge.”

The Black Country Festival part of the event will centre on Coventry Street where local bands and singers will be showcased throughout the day.

Car enthusiasts will be showcasing their vintage vehicles in Lower High Street.

There’ll be performances from local dance groups and singers, plus karate demonstrations, taking place by the town clock throughout the day.

There will also be fairground rides for little ones in Market Street and the High Street plus a diverse array of stalls selling local crafts, food and products.

Road closures will be in place in High Street, Market Street, Lower High Street, Duke Street and Coventry Street Stourbridge will be closed to traffic from Sunday July 7, from 6am to 8pm.
