Stratford stabbing: Second teen charged with murder after 15-year-old boy knifed to death in east London

A second boy has been charged with the murder of a 15-year-old who was stabbed to death in east London.

Michael Irving, from Woolwich, was found fatally injured by Byford Close, Stratford, at about 6.45pm on September 3.

The suspect, 15, will appear at the Old Bailey on Friday alongside a 16-year-old boy who was charged with murder on September 5. Both will remain in custody until then.

Officers attending found Michael Irving suffering from stab wounds. Medics battled to save his life but he was pronounced dead at the scene just before 8pm.

In a statement the Met police said: "A post-mortem examination was conducted at East Ham Mortuary on Thursday, 5 September and found the cause of death to have been consistent with knife wounds.

"A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder on Tuesday, 3 September.

"On Thursday, 5 September he was charged with the murder and appeared the following day at Stratford Magistrates’ Court – he was remanded in custody to next appear at the Old Bailey on Friday, 13 September.

"On Tuesday, 10 September, a 15-year-old boy was also arrested on suspicion of murder - he was charged with the murder to appear at Stratford Youth Court the following day."

Officers continue to appeal for information, the Met Police said.
