Streaming Ratings: ‘One Day’ Debuts in Top 10 During Light Super Bowl Week

The week of the Super Bowl was a relatively light one for streaming in the United States — but that allowed a couple of shows to score solid positions in the top 10 despite relatively modest viewing times.

Netflix’s romance One Day, which premiered Feb. 8, was one of them — finishing fifth among original shows despite only gathering 296 million minutes of viewing in the U.S. for the week of Feb. 5-11. In the previous five weeks, the show in that slot had averaged 555 million minutes of watch time. Paramount+’s Halo also made its first appearance in the top 10, finishing fourth among originals with 354 million minutes as it opened its second season.

Only two shows, acquired stalwarts Young Sheldon (1.35 billion minutes on Netflix and Max) and Bluey (1.14 billion minutes on Disney+), eclipsed a billion minutes for the week. Mr. and Mrs. Smith moved into first place among originals with 765 million minutes of watch time. That was down about 21 percent from the prior week, but the last No. 1, Netflix’s Griselda, fell by more than half to 735 million minutes.

HBO released the fifth episode of True Detective: Night Country on Max two days earlier than usual, which may have helped fuel a 15 percent increase (648 million minutes to 745 million minutes) from the prior week. Former USA series Royal Pains also made its streaming chart debut with 707 million minutes on Netflix and Prime Video — 55 million minutes more than Suits, which had 652 million minutes of viewing on Netflix and Peacock. The Marvels (558 million minutes) led the movie rankings after premiering on Disney+ on Feb. 7.

Nielsen’s streaming ratings cover viewing on TV sets only and don’t include minutes watched on computers or mobile devices. The ratings only measure U.S. audiences, not those in other countries. The top streaming titles for Feb. 5-11, 2024, are below.
